Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner. The position is a nine month, part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Interim Director of Health Services. The Winslow Student Health Services staff supports the needs of our diverse student body through the provision of individual holistic care and education programs and activities
The nurse practitioner serves patients as a primary health care provider in collaboration with a physician and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. She/he utilizes medical protocols which are established jointly and updated regularly by the nurse practitioner and the physician preceptor. The nurse practitioner cares for students with common episodic illnesses and those with chronic illnesses seen in ambulatory health care settings. She/he also provides counseling and instruction for the social, emotional, and health education needs common to young adults. Essential duties include patient care such as assessment of health status, choosing and implementing therapeutic regimens, evaluating and modifying regimens, and other duties as assigned.

The following qualifications are required to be considered for the position: Master of Science in Nursing, Current R.N. licensure in Pennsylvania, Certified Registered Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania, and Certified in CPR. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Medicine, Emergency Room experience, or Urgent Care Experience. Additionally, two more years’ experience in College Health National Certification is preferred.
