Performs technical duties, and provides support in a dental instrument management and materials supply system.Decontaminates, sterilizes, assembles, and distributes instruments and materials according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
Performs duties in the area of decontamination. Sorts and inspects instruments prior to cleaning. Washes instruments manually or by loading and unloading a sonic or washer/decontaminator. Disposes of trash, linen and teeth according to departmental policy.
Prepares instrument cassettes/surgery trays/burs according to set up guides. Inspects instruments for defects/performs routine maintenance where required. Identifies types of sterilization required for specific types of instruments. Packages/wraps/labels items for appropriate sterilization/load carts.
Monitors recording charts & chemical integrators on each load to confirm sterilization parameters have been met. Maintains, monitors and records dates, load numbers, autoclave identities, and test results.
Prepares, issues and tracks procedure trays, preparing according to practitioners needs, with cassette, hand pieces, burs, materials and supplies. Accountable for all items checked out of the dispensary and for instruments in the cassettes. Ordering supplies, maintain inventory (trays - 10 lbs).
Undertakes responsibility of delivery functions. Picks up soiled items, delivers and unloads to decontamination room. Monitors loads for sterility, unloads sterile items and inspects for damage, and moisture. Sorts items according to department. Able to push carts and lift bins.
Restock supplies, materials and instruments for dispensaries, instrument processing and labs.
Performs cleaning of sterilizers, sonic and washers. Insures that drains, gaskets and washers screens are checked and maintained. Maintains a clean work area.
Orients students, faculty and staff to policies and procedures regarding infection control and distribution and return of dental instruments and supplies.
Attends departmental meetings to maintain communication and needs/concerns of clinic.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent, and
One year experience using infection controlorsterile techniques in a hospital or dental environment.
Must be able to move 50lb cassettes/trays.
Must be able to move 100lb cart.
Must be able to retrieve items from low-level drawers and cabinets.
Previous Dental Experience
