About the Position: The Student Health and Counseling Center strives to help students achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. The Student Health and Counseling Center is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse II with a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse II provides nursing support to physicians and nurse practitioners in the Student Health and Counseling Center. Provides limited health education and information to patients, as specially directed by providers and registered nurses. Acts as liaison between other nursing staff, medical records, clinicians, front desk staff and students. Collects record and monitor patient data, routine measurements and vital signs. Prepares and completes all documentation needed for patient appointments. Prepare examination and treatment rooms. Sets up treatment and instrument trays. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Manages patient flow. Administers immunizations and therapeutic injections as ordered by providers. Performs therapeutic treatments, diagnostic testing and nursing procedures as ordered by providers. Measures and fits crutches and instruct students in correct crutch use. Contacts patients as instructed by providers and relay information as directed. Works with practitioners to ensure patients' rights to privacy, safety and confidentiality. Responsible for reviewing all abnormal lab reports as well as monitoring, tracking and initiating follow up communication with patients following the appropriate algorithm and procedure. Responsible for alerting providers regarding abnormal lab results. Responsible for sterilization. Storage and inventory control of medical equipment and infection control and prevention. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Requires successful completion of a vocational nursing program or equivalent training and experience, and a valid State of California LVN license. Requires current/valid CPR/AED certificate A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
