Acts as the primary clinic resource in a large multi-physician clinical practice; functions as a Medical Assistant in the department, prepares and maintains exam rooms, prepares charts, obtains reports and records; directs patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Assistant Duties:
Retrieves and handles phone messages from message line, triages phone messages and patient questions according to physician orders.
Returns patient phone calls and responds to their needs under the direction and guidance of physicians and other healthcare providers.
Retrieves pharmacy refills from message line and refill prescriptions according to standing orders.
Reviews laboratory data for triage to senior medical staff for medical decision.
Takes interval histories, evaluates chief complaint for handling or triage to physician.
Provides point of service glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, and other testing and reporting.
Acts as general liaison between physician and patient.
Assist physicians and nurse practitioner, as requested.
Schedules patient lab work and diagnostic procedures.
Types and maintains supply of patient education information.
Coordinates the flow of medical information, test results, medical records through the practice.
Maintains files and office supplies.
Draws blood on patients by venipuncture or capillary sticks.
Ensures accurate data collection for lab specimen and labels.
Experience with general office equipment and computers.
Experience with GE Centricity( IDX) and Allscripts strongly preferred.
Able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, have knowledge of medical terminology.

The hiring range for this position is $15.54 - $19.05 per hour.
High school diploma or GED; a Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience (examples of related fields include military medic, emergency medical technicians, Nurse’s Aide, physical therapy and nurse technicians, and certified athletic trainers); substitutions include
Medical Assistant certification/registration eligible with successful completion of certification exam within 6 months of hire date or within a shorter time frame if noted by hiring manager.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (such as RN/LPN), or comparable allied health training program with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.).

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.� Position hours are generally Monday-Friday.
